RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

SUNDAY OCTOBER 25TH

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

Did you know that God actually wants a relationship with you? The creator of the universe wants you to take the time to get to know him. Yet so many times life gets so busy that this relationship doesn’t get much time or emphasis.

In today’s verses a follower of Christ is called to ask, to seek, and to knock and perhaps if you have read these verses before you’ve jumped right into asking of God with anxious expectation of the promise for doors to be opened. Asking however is only one of the three things Jesus points out. He also tells us to seek and knock. In fact, it is rather hard to ask of God without seeking what God wants. And you can’t seek out what God wants until you knock on the door of relationship and discover who God is and what he desires.

Revelation 3:20 tells us that Christ is, “standing at the door and knocking.” Are you willing to open up the door and allow God into your life? God wants you to share all of whom and what you are with him. Today as you pray ask God to help you never close the door on him.

A Christ follower opens the door for God to come into their lives and get to know everything about them.

LORD CHANGE ME

SATURDAY OCTOBER 24TH

Create in me a pure heart, O, God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:10

Is your life filled with joy? Is your spirit steadfast in times of uncertainty of trouble? What is the sustaining driving force in your life?

These verses are from the beautiful writings of David whom God called a man after his own heart. Wouldn’t you love for God to say that to you! David’s heart in this pray is revealed and it only came through God changing him. Did you catch the words he used: create, renew, restore, and sustain. Each of those action words he was used to describe the changes that he wanted God to make in his life.

Today as you pray, what do you want God to create, renew, restore, or sustain in your life. Begin making four lists of what you would love to see God create in you, renew within you, restore to you, or sustain for you.

Relying on God to sustain your life
is the best way to ever live.

ARE YOU TEACHABLE

FRIDAY OCTOBER 23RD

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have know the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. II Timothy 3:14-15

Are you a lifelong learner? So often rather than continuing to learn new truths each day from the Bible we draw on things that we have learned from the past.

In today’s verses Paul is encouraging Timothy to continue to learn and grow. He reminds Timothy that these new truths that he should continue to learn should be from the Bible. Paul recognized that allowing God to teach through the Bible was the only way in which a young Christian like Timothy could grow in his spiritual wisdom and faith.

So are you teachable? Where do you turn for answers? Do you turn to God or google for answers? It is so important that you turn to the Bible for answers and allow God to teach you. Read the Bible daily allowing God to build you into the man or woman that he wants you to be.

Today when you pray ask God to fill your heart with a passion to study the Bible and consider making a commitment beyond these 40 days to study the Bible daily.

Wisdom isn’t built in a day
but it is built daily.
